THE SHOW

The show was once again held at the Magnet Centre, Maidenhead. This year we were blessed with the weather, it was a fine and dry day.

Our Vets, led by James Cook, the Duty Vet, worked swiftly to get all cats through the vetting in procedure, organised by Pat and Frances de Courcy Rolls.

Mr Steve Morris, our Acting Chairman, welcomed those present and called for a minute’s silence in honour of our Late Chairman, Mrs Jean Gamble.

The judging proceeded swiftly and the admin table workers, led by Anthony Allgood, worked solidly to produce the results. Thank you to all of these unsung heroes (you know who you are!) – they slog away all day for us and hardly ever receive the recognition they deserve!

Thank you to our Judges and Stewards – you were magnificent, as usual!

Brian Gregory produced the paperwork to enable us to proceed to Best of Variety and then Best in Show; Best Imperial Certificate Winner, Best Merit Winner and Best Non-Pedigree – thank you Brian.

Ted Wilding and Robin Kemp, our erstwhile sorter and runner, thank you both.

Mike Buckridge – our super doorman (nothing gets past him) sat all day at the door – thank you, Mike you are a treasure.

Sue Deane and Glenna Gillman (and helpers) ran an excellent raffle – first prize donated by our dear President, Mrs Cynthia Stephens – thank you ladies. AND to the boys in blue for helping to sell the tickets

Thank you to the Stallholders for supporting the Show.

Our main sponsors, R & L P:et Products, for sponsoring the R & L Classes, the Best in Show Winner, Best Imperial Certificate Winner, the Best Merit Winner and the Best in Show Non-Pedigree Winner – thank you to the lovely Bob Towner.

Thank you to Hills for its goody bags to the “Best” Winners and the pen samples.

Thank you to Royal Canin for its support – and the banner and the pen samples.

Thank you to my friend Malcolm – who looked after the finance side of things at the Show – not always an easy task but one which he carried out with humour and carefulness.

Steve, Sue, Brenda, Nicky, Laura (who worked on the table this year) – thanks guys for the help and support and, most of all, the comfort of knowing what a great Committee we have – Jean would have been pleased and proud.

My personal thanks to Bill and Sarah for putting up with me.

LAST BUT NOT LEAST – the cats who were wonderful and the Exhibitors who brought them and without whom there would be no Show.

See you next year – St Valentine’s Day.

Best wishes, Pat
